Saxony Canterbury

Though he may seem like no more than a New Orleans private investigator, Saxony Canterbury is clearly a man with deep secrets and uncanny powers. He is the owner of Steel Angels Investigations, along with his partner and lover Hayaka (who is half-human, half-Japanese fox spirit). Steel Angels only employs one other part-time office assistant, but Saxony has freelance agents such as Psyche to call upon for different jobs. Saxony can be charming and benign, but he is also capable of being cold and lethal when it suits him.

While he clearly has potent mystical abilities at his command, he is not without rivals -- a woman named Bella Brouchard seems to be his most dangerous adversary in New Orleans, with her own strange powers and mysterious agenda.

Saxony revealed that his conflict with Bella Brouchard began when he was a teenager, on the run from an abusive home life with his twin sister, Jinevra. At first, Jinevra was Brouchard's pupil, but then it would appear that Brouchard sacrificed the girl to help create her mysterious seven-stringed harp. Since then, Saxonly has devoted his life to thwarting Brouchard's attempts to finish the magical instrument... and to seeking revenge.

Saxony has some working relationship with the Shackled Man, who hired him to find Sharon and Gail to help them in their "awakening." However, he was been forcibly conscripted by the calculating Grant Grogan of Perivigilum. In the course of this service, he accompanied Grogan's team on an ill-fated raid of Bella Brouchard's mansion. There, he not only learned that Bella had greater power than he ever suspected, but he also realized that must not have been earnest in her supposed attempts to kill him. It's clear she needs him alive... though for what purpose he still does not know.

When Sharon and Gail were in danger from Vigil’s trials, Saxony picked a side. He broke free of their control and contacted Bella Brouchard to save the girls – although he knows that she will also kill one of them in her own time if she is allowed.
