So the 10th marks an auspicious day in my life, which is to say my birth. I was born at the end of 1968, which was one of the most turbulent years in American history. Which means now, I am of an age where the idea of "40" is taking on a whole new level of depth and solidity.

Some people say life begins at 40, so I suppose I have that to look forward to. Then again, I saw a book that claims life begins at 90. If that's the case, there have been one hell of a lot of stillbirths in human history.
