So what's this story all about?
This is a story of two exceptional young sisters who find themselves inexorably
drawn away from their seemingly normal lives into a world of mystery, enchantment,
and danger. As the sisters struggle to uncover truths that neither can imagine,
they run into all sorts of challenges -- shady detectives and occult masters,
Old Testament hardcases and demons from India, church-going vampires and mentally
deranged biker chicks... and a grandmother who delivers her "bedtime stories" from
the barrel of a shotgun. And that's only the beginning.
There's adventure, drama, humor, spiritual dilemmas, and all sorts of
intrigue. If you're just starting or if you want a refresher of old
chapters, check out:
The Story So Far...
This section is a bit behind in its updates, but it will get you started. The best thing
to do, of course, is to go read the archives.
When do new strips appear?
Thunderstruck previously updated on on Mondays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays. Since January 2014, I've changed that schedule to a once-a-month update.
What sort of tone can we expect in the comic?
If this was a movie, it would probably be PG-13, though conceivably we will dip into
a few R-Rated moments of violence and language on occasion. Explicit nudity and extreme gore
are pretty much off the table.
Thunderstruck is a fantasy comic that mixes adventure and sophisticated themes, and
I hope to do justice to both. No character should be considered to speak for the author's own
personal opinions or beliefs, nor should any be considered a mouthpiece of absoulte truth... as much as
they might think themselves to be.
What's the deal with the "ending" between chapters 12 and 13?
In my previous updating schedule, Thunderstruck was taking up an extraordinary amount
of my free time each week. I felt the need to re-prioritize to pursue my career in fiction. After
several years, I realized that I had come to a place in my life where I could balance both, if I
changed how I updated Thunderstruck.
What are the outtakes and extras?
When I was updating three times a week, it pleased me to take a break between chapters by
posting DVD-style "extras" about the behind-the-scenes world of Thunderstruck, and to
create desktop wallpapers. In the current incarnation of the comic, it seems unlikely that I
will do the outtakes anymore, though wallpapers might still appear once and a while.
