I want to give a special note of appreciation for all the readers who wrote
me about the strip on 11/14. The argument between
the sisters seems to have inspired some very thoughtful analysis from followers
of the comic. It's terrific to hear from fans who are engaged in the story
and have something to say. Much better than operating in silence and wondering
if anyone is really interested.
I'd like to take the opportunity to make sure that readers know that neither
Sharon nor Gail is a mouthpiece for my own opinions -- religious, political,
or what have you. While obviously they come from my head and thus cannot help
but reflect something of my own thinking, I try to let them speak within the
framework of their own characters. So if Sharon, Gail, or another member of the
cast makes some kind of blanket declaration about the "way things are," that's
not me as the author pontificating. It's just the character.
And they may be completely wrong.
