What are these creatures made out of?
Socks, gloves, buttons, thread and stuffing.
What do you stuff them with?
Poly-fil from Hobby Lobby, a basic polyester stuffing.
And sometimes quilt batting for special spots like wings.
Do you make duplicates?
No. I can't. I could use the same style of pattern but they never come out
exactly the same. Each sock is different and since these items are completely handmade,
each one is totally unique. I do not reuse names or descriptions.
What, no sewing machine?
Nope. I do them completely by hand.
Are they hypoallergenic?
Mostly. But I do have cats, so creatures may contain traces of cat hair.
Are they child-safe?
I can make one child-safe for you, by making it without button eyes.
I will draw or embroider the eyes or use pom-poms.
Are they pet-safe?
Not really. They're too fragile. I'd hate to be painstakingly sewing hand-made chew toys...
Do the creatures come with their personalized description?
YES! I'm still perfecting the method of sending along the full certificate of
authenticity, but quickly realized that they should not be handwritten by me.
How do I adopt one?
Adoption of a creature entails merely paying for the postage for the beast to reach you,
generally about $7 for the USA, Canada, or the UK. I commonly offer for adoption creatures
that are experimental or are from the published patterns.
How much to buy one?
Creatures cost $20-30 depending on how much time each one took to make.
A portion of each purchase price (usually half) goes to charity.
E-mail me for a list of charities I support.
Plus the postage, generally about $7 for the USA, Canada, or the UK.
Are you ripping Mr. Murphy off?
No. I'm trying hard to stay within the copyright laws. He's a professional
and I'm just a hobbyist who sells some sock creatures in her spare time.
If you want an original Stupid Sock Creature you must get it from him.
If you want a sock dinosaur or dragon, octopus or cat, I can do that for you,
cheaper since I'm doing this in my spare time but probably also slower.
Where do you get your ideas for creatures?
From the colors and pattens of the socks, mostly. Plus, I have nightmares, lots of nightmares...
