Dashing Sam fought hard, but was only able to hold off one of the tenacious closers today. Flame Dance prevailed, while Boreas came up with a striking move but just too late. Forty Days was well-placed but suddenly bore out badly, perhaps nervous about the smell of smoke in the air.

A wild stretch drive, as they battled three wide down the stretch before Falawik came flying from nowhere to sweep past in the last strides. Dead heat for 2nd place, meaning that the 2nd and 3rd place purses are added and split evenly, thusly Niebla and Paxil both recieve $438 in earnings.

THE WORST start I've ever seen. All the fellows were gentlemen in the paddock, but once they reached the gate all that changed. Sa Baron and Little Wizard decided they couldn't stand each other any longer, and the screams of rage were such that the starter released them as soon as everyone had all four feet on the ground. Lots of weaving in the first few yards as the jockeys got their boys' concentration back on running, and at the quarter pole the racing finally began in earnest. Not much of a race this time, just a mess that all the horses got through in one piece. After the race the two colts were pals again- who knows with colts?

Aqyra comes through at good odds for the bettors today, breaking Dayra's track record! Wire-to-wire very tough, over closers Fajera and Gwareda FLS. Dayra a disappointment today, didn't seem herself...

Flying finish for fan favorite! (Stop that alliteration!) Oh, sorry. Huran once again runs off with one, though all three closers were making gains late. Almost a 3-way dead heat in the photo for 2nd place- very tough fellows. Huran just unstoppable today, that track record from last race didn't stand long...

A great duel as expected between the two powerhouse fillies Silvona and Pyrrha, but what a surprise as Nyandoma takes it, holding off both ladies. What guts! Wabrineth and Ibn Farashar bumped a little at the start, but both ran well with no lingering effects.

A lot of weaving problems today- I think some horses don't like the smell of us with the light wind carrying the smoke across. 400 acres burned, they say. At least it's on the other side of the mountains. Today it's like L.A. all over again... Brave effort from Little Zlota Wosk holding off Pydara and Racine.

A good day for pacesetters, it seems. Another wire-to-wire performance with Palm bravely fighting off Wampiremyst, Czarnik, and LS Bint Celebria. Nickadaar seems finished but started running late - too late for this distance, unfortunately.

A great stretch battle between Azale and Wintry Tale, with Gwyreka just waiting for either to falter! If the post positions had been reversed, we might have seen a different result... Perfect trip for Azale, a tougher round for the favorite Wintry Tale breaking from the middle of the gate.

Command performance by Tanczyc today... he now holds both the 5f and 5fT track records! The real race was for the place, and the three gentlemen vying for it ran a great race nonetheless. Everybody gets an apple, I hope.

Great stretch drive for three tough colts- Abrazo, I Need You, and Raffiki fighting it out all the way down the stretch. Quite a bit of bumping early but all were away with plenty of run.

Another runaway! Endor left everyone in the dust easily today! Great effort by Heath, and a photo for 3rd place between Songwind and El Rabyat.

Two major filly duels-
In Race 3A, Fajera versus Dayra! Dayra (3yo grey filly, ABE) comes off a tough race 7/30 at FLT, where she fell to Silvona- and Fajera (3yo bay filly, MHK) comes from her maiden win here also on 7/30.
In Race 4, Pyrrha challenges Silvona! Pyrrha (3yo bay filly, DRZ) is fresh from breaking her maiden in Falcon Ridge's Saherin Cup! Silvona (3yo grey filly, MAJ), undefeated at Flatirons, is ready to take her on! Should be an awesome race pitting the pace-setting Silvona against the strong-closing Pyrrha.

Tanczyc stood as the huge favorite even before the race was split, so the fillies think they got a break here. An otherwise evenly-matched field of colts and geldings tries to catch the SW colt today.
