Winner: Flame Dance, 1997 chestnut colt(Monogramm-r x Bask Dancer, *Bask )owned by Sue Mohr, bred by Rosen Stables(ND),
ridden by Jason, winning time=1:06.8
1/4 Flame Dance, 3 ch c, SMR,Jason,#118,pp2,by nose, stalked pace, moved strongly to win stretch duel
2/4 Dashing Sam, 3 g c, DRZ, Hotohori,#118,pp3, by 1L, set fast pace, fought hard in stretch, almost
3/4 Boreas, 3 b g, LLY, Nuriko,#118,pp4, by 3L,stalked pace, closing fast but ran out of ground
4/4 Forty Days, 3 b c,ABE, F. Barsic,#118,**pp1, pressed pace, bore out in turn
Dashing Sam fought hard, but was only able to hold off one
of the tenacious closers today. Flame Dance prevailed, while Boreas
came up with a striking move but just too late. Forty Days was well-placed but suddenly
bore out badly, perhaps nervous about the smell of smoke in the air.
2A. Maiden 3yo prev. placed 5fT $2500
Winner: Falawik, 1997 bay colt(Wikreda x Arfalata, *Falat-r ) owned by Coy Stout, bred by Mystyk Arabians(TX),
ridden by Tamahome, winning time=1:07.1
1/4 Falawik, 3 b c,COY, Tamahome,#118,**pp4,by 1/2L,closed strongly to sweep duelers
2/4 Niebla, 3 g f, SMR, Jackson,#116,pp2,dead heat, stalked pace, dueled for lead, surprised by closer $438
2/4 Paxil, 3 g f, LLY, Nuriko,#116,pp3,by nose, set pace,dueled for lead, surprised by closer $438
4/4 LS ZestForLife,3 bl c,SAT,A. Boshi,#118,pp1,stalked pace, moved up to challenge, close
A wild stretch drive, as they battled three wide down the stretch
before Falawik came flying from nowhere to sweep past in the last strides.
Dead heat for 2nd place, meaning that the 2nd and 3rd place purses are added and split evenly,
thusly Niebla and Paxil both recieve $438 in earnings.
2B. Maiden 3yo, unplaced/unstarted 5fT $2500
Winner: Sabbinial, 1997 black gelding(Centennial x Sabinha, Sabeel) owned by Dana Renzi, bred by Cross R Ranch(MI) ,
ridden by Hotohori, winning time=1:12.8
1/4 Sabinnial, 3 bl g, DRZ, Hotohori,#118,**pp4,by 1L,unnerved by ruckus in the gate, best recovery, good finish
2/4 Little Wizard,3 c, SAT,Chiriko,#118,pp1,by 1L,unruly in the gate,recovered well to close strongly
3/4 Pertt, 3 ch g, SMR, Tasha, #118, pp3,by nose, unnerved by ruckus in the gate, running well late
4/4 Sa Baron,3 b r c, SMR,Sesha, #118,pp2,unruly in the gate, running well once settled
THE WORST start I've ever seen. All the fellows were gentlemen
in the paddock, but once they reached the gate all that changed.
Sa Baron and Little Wizard decided they couldn't stand each other any longer,
and the screams of rage were such that the starter released them as soon
as everyone had all four feet on the ground.
Lots of weaving in the first few yards as the jockeys got their boys'
concentration back on running, and at the quarter pole the racing
finally began in earnest. Not much of a race this time, just a mess
that all the horses got through in one piece. After the race the two colts were
pals again- who knows with colts?
3A. Allowance 3yo fillies 6f $4200
Winner: Aqyra, 1997 grey filly(Tyreth x Aqilla, Gwailor-r ) owned by Sue Mohr, bred by Flyin' Lion(TX),
ridden by Jordan, winning time=1:17.4 NTR!
1/5 Aqyra, 3 g f, SMR,Jordan, #117, pp3,by 1/2 L,set pace, held off closer
2/5 Fajera, 3 b f, MHK, Hammer,#117,pp4,by 2L, closed for very close finish
3/5 Gwareda FLS,3 g f,LLY,Tamahome,#117,pp5,by1L,weaved in first turn, made up almost all of the ground lost
4/5 Jarita, 3 ch f, ALO, C. Evans,#116,pp2,by 1L,closing with Fajera, coudn't quite get there
5/5 Dayra, 3 g f, ABE, G. Ediger,#117,**pp1, ran with pack, never really fired
Aqyra comes through at good odds for the bettors today, breaking Dayra's track record!
Wire-to-wire very tough, over closers Fajera and Gwareda FLS.
Dayra a disappointment today, didn't seem herself...
3B. Allowance 3yo colts/geldings 6f $4200
Winner: Huran, 1997 grey gelding(Liath Rose x Helig, SLM Mysterian) owned by Sue Mohr, bred by Rosen Stables(ND),
ridden by Hacker, winning time=1:17.0 NTR!
1/4 Huran, 3 g g, SMR,Hacker, #120, **pp2,by 5L, out fast, never challenged
2/4 Mereda, 3 g g,BGU, Tasuki,#118,pp1,by nose, stalked, gaining late but not enough
3/4 Freki, 3 bl c, LLY, Nuriko, #120,pp4,by nose, stalked, moving up late, almost had better
4/4 Raffarcyn,3 bl c,SMR,Jackson,#120,pp3, stalked, moving up late, ran out of ground
Flying finish for fan favorite! (Stop that alliteration!)
Oh, sorry. Huran once again runs off with one, though all three closers
were making gains late. Almost a 3-way dead heat in the photo for
2nd place- very tough fellows. Huran just unstoppable today, that track record
from last race didn't stand long...
4. Allowance 3yo 7 ½ f T $4200
Winner: Nyandoma, 1997 grey filly(Nariascat x *Negma, *Nego) owned by Lissa Lyonne, bred by Flyin' Lion (TX) ,
ridden by Nuriko, winning time=1:44.9 NTR!
1/8 Nyandoma,3 g f,LLY,Nuriko,#117,pp4,by head, set steady pace, great stretch drive to finish challengers
2/8 Pyrrha, 3 b f,DRZ,Y.Hongo,#118, **pp6,by neck, pressed pace, dueled all the way down stretch
3/8 Silvona,3 g f,MAJ, J.LaRoche,#120,pp3, by neck, stalked pace, flying up late to duel for win
4/8 Manu Kai,3 ch c,ABE,G. Ediger, #120, pp1,by 1L,pressed pace, strong finish
5/8 Wabrineth,3 ch f,COY,Tamahome, #116,pp8,by nose, weaved at start, finished strongly
6/8 LS Legacy OfFame ,3 ch c,SAT,Chiriko,#120,pp2, by 1/2L,pressed pace, tiring slightly late
7/8 Shamk, 3 ch g, SMR, Sesha,#120,pp5, by nose, stalked pace, making gains late
8/8 Ibn Farashar, 3 bl g,BGU, Tasuki,#118,pp7,stumbled out of gate, recovered to finish solidly
A great duel as expected between the two powerhouse fillies Silvona and Pyrrha,
but what a surprise as Nyandoma takes it, holding off both ladies. What guts!
Wabrineth and Ibn Farashar bumped a little at the start, but both ran well with no
lingering effects.
5. Maiden 4yo 5f $2500
Winner: Little Zlota Wosk, 1996 grey colt(Eldans Wotan -r x Little Zlota Ela,*El Paso-r ) owned by Satu Marttila, bred by Little Stables,
ridden by Chiriko, winning time=1:07.1
1/4 Little Zlota Wosk,4 g c ,SAT,Chiriko,#120,pp1,by nose,set pace, held off late challenger
2/4 Pydara, 4 ch f, LLY,Nuriko,#118,pp4,by head, stalked, moved late, almost there
3/4 Racine, 4 b f,ALO,T. Cheval,#118,pp2, by 2L, stalked pace, strong finish
4/4 Jasara, 4 ch r f, SMR,Jason, #118,**pp3, weaved far outside in first turn, making it up late
A lot of weaving problems today- I think some horses don't like the smell of us
with the light wind carrying the smoke across. 400 acres burned, they say.
At least it's on the other side of the mountains. Today it's like L.A. all over again...
Brave effort from Little Zlota Wosk holding off Pydara and Racine.
6. Maiden 4/up 7 ½ f T $2500
Winner: Palm [POL], 1996 chestnut colt(Pireus x Palmyra, Argo-r ) owned by Amber Berdie, bred by Krzysztalowicz Stud(POL) ,
ridden by F. Barsic, winning time=1:45.8
1/5 Palm, 4 ch c,ABE,F. Barsic,#120,**pp1, by head, set pace, held off all comers to take it w-t-w
2/5 Wampiremyst, 4 b g,HTR, --, #120, pp4,by nose,stalked pace, fought for lead all through stretch
3/5 LS Bint Celebria ,5 b f, SAT,Chiriko,#120,pp2, by head,closing fast from far back
4/5 Czarnik,4 ch g,LLY,Nuriko,#120, pp5,by 1/2L,pressed pace,fought for lead all through stretch, tiring
5/5 Nickadaar,6 g c,DPE,Chichiri, #122,pp3,good closing effort from far behind
A good day for pacesetters, it seems. Another wire-to-wire performance with
Palm bravely fighting off Wampiremyst, Czarnik, and LS Bint Celebria.
Nickadaar seems finished but started running late - too late for this distance,
unfortunately.
7A. Allowance 4yo fillies 5f T $4200
Winner: Azale [EGY], 1996 grey filly(Sherif Sami x Warra,*Neman el Saad ) owned by Beth Gustas, Abdel Rahim Stud (Egypt),
ridden by Tasuki, winning time=1:06.5
1/4 Azale, 4 g f,BGU, Tasuki,#118,pp1, by 1/2L,set pace, fought back when passed to take over
2/4 Wintry Tale,4 g f, LLY,Tamahome,#120,**pp4,by head, pressed pace, led late but couldn't hold on
3/4 Gwyreka,4 g f,LLY, Nuriko,#118,pp2, by 3L, stalked pace, couldn't gain on top two
4/4 Kwyra, 4 g f, DPE,Chichiri,#118,pp3, stumbled out of gate, not pushed
A great stretch battle between Azale and Wintry Tale, with Gwyreka
just waiting for either to falter! If the post positions had been reversed,
we might have seen a different result... Perfect trip for Azale, a tougher
round for the favorite Wintry Tale breaking from the middle of the gate.
7B. Allowance 4/up colts/geldings 5f T $4200
Winner: Tanczyc, 1996 bay colt(Wikreda x Dancing Fire,*Sambor-r ) owned by Mary-Ann Jantz, bred by Flyin' Lion(TX),

3/4 FL Gwyreth,4 g g, COY,Soi,#120,pp3,by neck, pressed pace, still trying hard in stretch though tired
4/4 Shasam, 5 b c,SMR, Hacker,#122,pp4,in speed duel early, tiring late but still trying
Command performance by Tanczyc today... he now holds both the 5f and 5fT
track records! The real race was for the place,
and the three gentlemen vying for it ran a great race nonetheless.
Everybody gets an apple, I hope.

7/7 Tefnut,4 g f, LLY,Nuriko,118,pp6,bumped at start, closing too late
Great stretch drive for three tough colts- Abrazo, I Need You, and Raffiki
fighting it out all the way down the stretch. Quite a bit of bumping early
but all were away with plenty of run.

Another runaway! Endor left everyone in the dust easily today!
Great effort by Heath, and a photo for 3rd place between Songwind and El Rabyat.

Two major filly duels-
In Race 3A, Fajera versus Dayra!
Dayra (3yo grey filly, ABE) comes off a tough race 7/30 at FLT,
where she fell to Silvona- and Fajera (3yo bay filly, MHK)
comes from her maiden win here also on 7/30.
In Race 4, Pyrrha challenges Silvona!
Pyrrha (3yo bay filly, DRZ) is fresh from breaking her maiden
in Falcon Ridge's Saherin Cup! Silvona (3yo grey filly, MAJ),
undefeated at Flatirons, is ready to take her on!
Should be an awesome race pitting the pace-setting Silvona
against the strong-closing Pyrrha.

Groans from colts' trainers and sighs of relief
from the fillies' side today as the split for race #7 was
announced. Tanczyc stood as the huge favorite
even before the race was split, so the fillies
think they got a break here. An otherwise evenly-matched
field of colts and geldings tries to catch the SW colt today.
