In the first running of the Cooper Stakes, the filly Silvona is the favorite,
with the dark horse definately the first-time starter Frankenstein, whose racing sytle
is the big mystery today. They break together very slow, and Frankenstein goes to the lead
steadily with the others stalking. He makes a move and tries to get clear, but Silvona and
Mekadevah, more experienced horses, are right on Frankenstein's heels. Silver Runner trails by 2 lengths.
Frankenstein drops back as Silvona takes over! She runs away from the colts! Silver Runner
is flying late! Does he have time? Too late to catch the powerful filly but a fine move to
get the place! Mekadevah stays strong for the show spot.
